I just got this roll easy and it has this hose end sticking out of the inlet. There is no push button to remove it. I am wondering was this original or some sort of conversion kit? Any insight would be helpful.

The original hose was turquoise vinyl, and they split a lot. Like a LOT. That was the replacement about 1960 when they went back to the rubber hose with braiding. Try pushing in on the hose inlet tube before trying to pull it out.
