Do we have enough partz to make a whole vacuum? Huh, do we?

Let the transplant commence

Two carcasses, each with unbroken partz the other doesn't have...

The green one has a hugely cracked bottom radiating out from the front caster - used as a stepstool maybe? Thus the dust accumulation from sucking through the bottom cracks. Motor runs great, cord on the cordwinder and a 'full bag' indicator in the hinged lid. Came with working airtight hose and a seized up power nozzle - not in green however. Motor muffled in 1/2" FELT! no wonder it whispers.

The purple one has a clean intact bottom, no cord, no bag full indicator and both the tool and bag compartment lids are not hinged - they slot into place and therefore would have to be removed & set aside every time you wanted tools or a bag change. Cheap. Came with split hose but a clean power nozzle, also in beige. Motor wrapped in foam. Whispers not so much. :-)

Both have HEPA aftermotor filters and identical electric components. Both have suffered abuse in their own ways...

The green one, while clean otherwise, has thick wads of congealed dog hair, etc that has rusted out the powernozzle motor.

The purple one suffers from being cordless and a cheaper model.

Both Model 116's have power wands but the attchment to the nozzle is different. Purple one has an exterior cord that runs up the wands to the hose. The green one is wired to a power socket at the base that the wands click into.

First a powernozzle guts transplant. Then the vacuum canister transplant.

A shame I didn't find a matching green power nozzle shell...yet.

The hose slider switch starts the vacuum and the second position starts the brushroll & headlight.

Oh yeah, the vacuum has a slot to hang the power nozzle on for storage. No wonder these hoses get stressed and split at the handle.

Anyway, its a strong performing quiet vacuum with a cheap to replace HEPA cartridge, that will be perfect for donation to a needy home.

This is the generic style I call Pod Vacs and they don't really spin my crank up to speed. In the articulated wands alone much too many trendy complications in the fittings. True full 360 hose swivel connection. 5 height positions and nice bright headlight that actually lights your way.

The purple one was a kicked to the curb freebie and the green one I picked up for $6 at Goodwill in Sarnia.

How they started out

Ok, the purple one is grey topped with purple lids. the green one looks classier.

The Hoover Futura is probably going off to the College Dorm with Gerry's son, Jake. Much less to go wrong with it, he can get bags at CanTire and there's no cordwinder to f**k up.
