So given that things have been kinda rough lately, the last thing I needed to be doing was cruising Ebay, I had run across this over a week ago and marked it on my watch list. Last Monday was the final day, and still with no takers I decided to toss in the bare minimum bid. I later raised it $5...
I never expected to win, but I did.
So without further ado, I present my gleaming 2007 model Kirby Sentria. I've had the itch for one since we toured the factory last month. It cost me a whole $220!
All it needed was the belt installed correctly, and it purrs. Whomever owned it used it very little, its spotlessly clean, and still gleaming.
Here is the money shot:
(move over Jack I'm hungry!)

one more glam shot

I ran it through the house this afternoon, it's not much different than my Ultimate G Diamond, the main difference is the new handle and the LED headlights.
Michael will take this home with him tomorrow, to join the rest of the Kirbys. This is one that will be kept for nice, and preserved for posterity.

WOW......Congrats on a Great Deal!
It looks brand new....beautiful machine.

I hope to have one of these in the future...I really like the way they look.

Just curious here...

Don't take it the wrong way or think I'm starting a flame war or something...

I'm just curious.....why is everyone so thrilled over the Sentria? With the G series, not much changed from the G3-Diamond, and the Sentria is basically the last G with a rounded body and LED headlights.......so.......why the super-duper thrill about it? I don't recall seeing the same sort of hype about any of the previous models!

Remember......I'm not trying to start something.....I'm simply curious! (And I love Kirbys too!)

well for me

I bought this because just over a month ago I watched them being built.
I think the looker of the G-series is the G5.

I have an Ultimate G Diamond Edition that I use for a daily driver, and will continue to do so.

WOW Jeff, what a great deal, I am glad that you got it!! Eric I have only used the Sentria a couple times when I was at Fred Nelson's. I have to say that the machine is IMHO quieter, lighter in weight, and just seems to handle better. Terry

LOL....That's a good question Eric....I like all of the G series....but when I first saw the Sentria I just really liked the looks of it more.....For some reason the subtle rounded changes made it more appealing to me.....hard to explain.

Wow!

Congrats on a great find. My jaw is still hanging open. I'm amazed at the deals people find. Awesome.

Jeff, forgot to ask, what attachments did you get with it? One great looking machine there!! How does Michael like it?

Post# 51404 , Reply# 10   9/14/2008 at 10:27 (5,696 days old) by hoover1060 ()
No attachments

I just got the cleaner Terry, no attachments. I can use the set I got with my Diamond if I need to.
I think this will probably wind up being a display machine, once I locate an owners manual for it.

Michael gave it a little try last night, he thought it was ok, but was not overly excited by it. He likes the older ones better. If this was a Dual 50 or a Heritage II, he would have been more excited I think...
Like me he's more into having it because we saw them being built.

Love Those Kirby's

I think Kirby's are great, even though I have friends that don't agree with me. I would take a Kirby over a Dyson any day. I just can't stand the look of those Dysons, especially the colors.

Jeff, strange that there were no attachments with it. I always thought Kirby only sold their units as a package? Wonder if that is true. Terry

Terry...

I agree with you about the Sentria. Although, the Kirby shops still say it's no difference in... I will wait a few years when they come down in price. LOL!!! Jeff, that sounds like you got an aMAZing deal. Congrats and enjoy!!!
Clayton
Also, I much rather perfer the UG Diamond over the Sentria. Just my preference.

Jeff,

Let me know if the Diamond hose will work on the Sentria. I've been told they won't and I like to know first hand.

Thanks,

Charlie W.

yes

The Diamond hose works just fine Charlie.

What a Deal!

Jeff,
Now THAT was a heck of a deal! Looks like it is perfect condition.

it is in perfect condition!

All it needed was a wipe-off, and it sparkles!

Jeff,

looks like you got a great deal, the Sentria is Stunning. I want one but I just dont like these new handles, I will wait for the prices to drop some. Even though things may be tough now you still need to splurge and do something nice for yourself every so often and at that deal I would eat dog food if I had to, and no one would let you go hungry, I would send you a real big box of home made goodies so you had something to snack on

No worries Sam...

Things are looking better...

Different strokes. I think the handle design/shape is great. If there is only one thing I don't care for it's that big red, what is that thing, on the front of the handle. Every time I look at the pic it looks like a pair of humongous rub red lips. Take a look at the third pic above and tell me I'm wrong LOL

Congrats, Jeff - what a bargain! I've haven't had the pleasure of using a Sentria yet, but I did have a Diamond G - before I sold it to help fund my trip to the US! - so I know roughly what it must be like.

Personally, I like the styling of the Sentria a lot, including the red carrying-handle.

How much more you will appreciate the quality and performance of that cleaner now you've seen them built!

Pete,

Yes you are correct in thinking that thing looks like a big pair of lips, didn't notice until you pointed it out. Anyway it is a carrying handle.

the look

is kinda retro I think, a little more fun than Kirby's normally are.

I should have told the engineers when we were there last month that they need to come up with a NEW COLOR. The grey is kinda old now after 3 models...

Post# 51617 , Reply# 24   9/17/2008 at 09:48 (5,693 days old) by xraytech ()

jeff,

You are right about the color scheme, it is getting stale. That is probabaly another reason why I haven't bought a sentria. I think the looker of the G series is the G6 with it's black and gold colors. They need to make another Kirby in blue. They haven't since the Tradition and that has been 27 years.either that or I would like to see another kirby in a burgandy like the Legend II also, blue and burgandy are my 2 favorite colors for vacuums.

Kirby in blue....

I heard this really funny story from I don't remember who that stated that Kirby HATED the Tradition series becasue of the blue color. Aparantly this goes against the color used for a Cleveland sports outfit, that's green or red or something.

Am I totally off on this? Do I need a sedative, and a couch on this one item of my memory, or do I have something here???

I got a story 4 u...

My cousin bought a UG Diamond brand new when they came out and she was down by us recently and I had my Gsix setting out and she goes, "O my gosh! I love your colors on your Kirby sooo much better than mine!" I LOVEEEE the Diamond but the colors on the Gsix are awsome. She liked the Gsix so much she asked me if she could buy one(I have 2). I couldn't sell one of my prized possesions that fast so I told her no. Oh, well. Maybe if I get..............

nah...

we need another GREEN Kirby... there hasn't been a green model since the Dual 80!!

"that or I would like to see another kirby in a burgandy like the Legend II also"

- What about the G5?

Post# 51686 , Reply# 29   9/18/2008 at 00:16 (5,693 days old) by xraytech ()

You're right Jeff, Green would be appropriate, I didn't even think about how long it has been since there was a green Kirby. And I do Love the green of the Dual 80 I got from Michael at the Convention(my favorite non- Hoover vacuum). I would love to see a new Kirby in that beautiful shade of green

Post# 51696 , Reply# 30   9/18/2008 at 06:30 (5,692 days old) by riccarlover ()
Oh yes...

Green would be spactactulure!!! You know, back to the hose fitting or-deal I tried to put my G4 hose on my Gsix and boy, did I have a hell of a time. Does the Gsix have a different end on the hose for the latch?

No ,
the hoses and shampooers made for the G-series through the Sentria are all interchangable with each other.

Post# 51718 , Reply# 32   9/18/2008 at 12:09 (5,692 days old) by ohio_tuec ()

Yes, I too would love to see Kirby build a G-series Kirby in that same shade of Dual Sanitronic 80 green. I know Bison made a vacuum in that same color I guess around the same time or a little later. I have their last machine, the Centurion.
