Hey everyone! I have a Hoover WindTunnel Air Upright vacuum that I bought about 10-11 years ago. It still works great, but I have a few questions about it. There should be three photos posted as well. I noticed that the hepa filter located above the motor is pretty black on the underside. It also seems like the motor runs pretty hot cause the air is hot that comes out of the vents. Does the filter get like this after normal use or does it look excessive? I do plan on replacing the filter, but I’m assuming some of the black is carbon dust from the brushes on the motor? Or is that just dirt? I was curious so I took it apart and snapped a photo of one of the brushes. Are these something that you can replace if needed or do you have to replace the whole motor? Can you tell from the picture if you zoom in if they’re worn down pretty low? The silver part of the brush assembly doesn’t seem very carbon like so is there even any left? Thanks for any info anyone can provide!

That's what they're supposed to do but not everyone does it. Probably mainly due to the fact that lots of people would rather just throw away their machine and go buy a new one instead of fixing it. It would seem pointless to replace the motor if the old one still works fine. You can buy it and reserve for when the old one dies.
