I'll start by saying I know these motors were never meant to be serviced/disassembled, but I want to try for the fun of it. I've seen Vaclab on youtube refurbish a few Bissell motors with new bearings and I wanted to try. This one's bearings are utterly destroyed. The problem is this one looks a bit different than the ones on youtube. Neither the brushes nor the front fan case appear removable. The brushes I can deal with by being careful when I remove/install the armature, but the fan case I don't know. It looks like the edge was rolled over the top and I'd need to pry that rolled lip back up to get the fan apart. Any other ideas? The motor is garbage anyway so if I wreck it I don't care.

I use a screwdriver to loosen it then use a mallet to lightly try to tap it. But it might no work if the fan case is bent over. You could try bending the fan case slightly with pliers?

Throe it away and work on a new project.
The motor you have is small. It might produce power but there so shoddy they burn up so easy. The motors aren't worth the hassle.

If anyone is curious I was wrong, the rolled edge is just part of the fan case. I used a hammer and screwdriver to tap it off, it's just friction. Motor runs great now (as good as this cheap Bissell motor can anyway).
