What do I need to put a new gasket on the bottom plate of a Hoover Convertible?

If you can't find an original replacement, do the same thing Sanitaire does on theirs: Use a tube of butyl rubber (or latex caulk works too). Cut a small tip off the tube and squirt a new one. Let it cure, then reassemble.
