The cord winder on my Electrolux Olympia won't rewind the all the way. Do I need to replace the winder, or does it need adjusting?

Good news is - it rewinds. Meaning the flat steel spring is fine. A few threads about trouble-shooting, refurbishing, and adjusting cordwinders have been posted this year. A search of the 2008 Vintage archives subject threads is the way to go.

Jim, the usual fix is to remove the cordwinder unit and simply loop a few more cord turns around the cord reel until it fully and smartly retracts under test, before re-assembly. You can do this without having to disassemble the cordwinder unit or remove the plug from it's side hole.

Thanks Dave:

I will check the archives. I might work on it this weekend. Is the screw on the bottom the only screw that holds the winder in place? I removed the screw yesterday, but couldn't get the winder loose.

There are three screws

to remove the winder...

You'll need to remove the top cover/handle first, which is also three screws...

Thanks!

I knew there had to be more screws somewhere. I think this will be my Saturday project.
