Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew how I could fix this Kirby. I bought it years ago with a broken bag, it works perfectly except the mini Em-tor is cracked. So now it is held on with a pipe clamp.

Absolutely. To me, the Heritage series machines are among the easiest Kirbys to work on, and my cat likes them, too. The Mini em-tor is super easy to replace on those machines. While you have things torn down, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to at least check the fill tube for holes and replace it if necessary. If the inside of the cloth bag is more than a little dusty, it's a good bet the fill tube probably needs replacing, and maybe the outer bag needs laundering as well. The tubes are available cheap on eBay and often come with the required zip ties.
When you're putting the fill tube assembly (mini em-tor, fill tube and bag connector) together, make sure the openings on the mini em-tor and bag connector are facing in opposite directions. Put the whole assembly into the bag so that the bag connector's opening faces the zipper. Push the mini em-tor through the opening in the bottom of the bag and massage the bag opening until it seats on the lip at the top of the mini em-tor, then put the bag guard band on where the mini em-tor meets the bag. Secure the bag connector inside the top of the bag, and you're ready to put the whole bag assembly back on the machine. |
