Today at the thrift store I saw a Black and Decker waffle iron that has the reversible grids that flip over to a flat griddle.
This, like the Classic Iron, is another design that Black and Decker got when they bought GE’s small appliance line in the mid 1980s, and still produces. I already have a waffle iron, but for $5 I figured I’d grab it anyway given I’d kind of been looking for one. They go for $80 on Amazon, and this one looks very clean. It has the newer Black + Decker logo, so I’d guess it’s less than 6 years old or so. I was surprised on how light it was though. Much lighter than my Cuisinart Griddler. |

Some photos, doesn’t look like it was used much if at all. Just a bit dusty.

Great buy Fans of fans, I have had a few waffle irons through the years and I can’t say I’m a fan of the newer models they sell today , very cheaply made and expensive , compared to the later models.
A few years back I bought a Knapp-Monarch co. Tel-a-matic 600watt made from the late 40’s to early 50’s and will never look back, this iron performs great with the dial in temperature and is very durable . As I say out with the new and in with the old! It is worth going to flea markets and picking up the later model appliances for low prices, you will not be disappointed with your purchase they are built to last. Keep finding those vintage treasures for cheap they are worth their weight in gold. Happy hunting.
