Well, I recently purchased a new fan for my Kirby Classic and would like to know how to install it. It is one of those kevlar fans(could not find a metal one). So, how do you install Kirby fans?

Take the power nozzle off.

Remove the rear motor housing. If it is a 1-CR, it'll just have 3 screws. If it is a 1-CB or later, it'll have 3 screws, one on the bottom behind the rear wheels, and 1 on top under the plastic cover around the switch.

Remove the front fan cover (One screw under the headlight, the rest are on the back).

On the bottom of the motor housing, you'll see a sort of window. If you look in there as you turn the shaft around, you should see a hole drilled through the shaft right behind the metal motor fan. Stick a screwdriver or something similar in this hole to keep the shaft from turning.

On the fan pulley you'll see another hole. Stick something pretty stiff in this hole and turn the fan to the RIGHT! The fan is a left-hand thread! Righty-loosey, Lefty-tighty in this case!

Installation is the reverse of removal.

One note: If your Classic still has the original wax seal on the front bearing, try not to disturb it. Then you won't need to use the rubber seal that comes with the new fan kit.

 I had been itching to use my classic but it had a horribly broken fan. Now that a new one is on the way I can finally use it again! :)

About the front bearing

 Im gonna replace it(despite the fact that it still has the original seal)because it can really scream sometimes.
