2025 also marks the 120th Anniversary of the founding of the P.A. Geier Company in Cleveland, OH by Phillip A. Geier in 1905, although he didn't start building vacuum cleaners until 5 years later. He first began as a job order machine shop and foundry, making mostly parts for punch presses, then eventually began making his own line of punch presses. Then in 1910, he built the first Royal Electric Vacuum Cleaner, which soon became so successful that he devoted the company solely to making vacuum cleaners and other appliances such as hair dryers and massagers and abandoned his previous endeavors. So this is also the 115th Anniversary of the Royal Electric Vacuum Cleaner.
The reason I specifically mentioned Electric Vacuum Cleaner is that some of you may be familiar with a hand pumper with the Royal name on it, and I have also heard of it and seen pictures of it. However, the Royal hand pumper and the company that made them have absolutely NO CONNECTION to the P.A. Geier Company or Royal Electric Vacuum Cleaners. Jeff |
