I dropped by the Goodwill store in town today to see what they had. I picked-up a Kirby Vacuette hand-held vacuum. Got it for $2 plus tax. It looks like its practically not been used at all. This little thing had great suction too.

My question is this, it came with a cloth bag. Is that all that is used? No paper bags inside the cloth bag like on my hand-held Dirt Devil?

Thanks for any info. on this. I'll have to get a picture posted on it soon.

Kirby Vacuette hand vacuum

I got one when I bought my Kirby Legend II. Mine came with a only the cloth bag. It matches the Kirby Legend in the looks of the bag and cord color. This one has good pick-up but it was very loud. Mine has a very long cord and light on the front. I do not have any attachments. Sounds like you got a good buy.

mine has a very long cord and the light on the front too. The light even works. I'll just use it with the cloth bag only then. I washed it and it looks good. Guess every so often after emptying the bag a few times just wash it on delicate and it will be fine.

Thanks for you input!

If it is the cleaner I'm thinking about, then its the same thing as the Oreck Power Brush. Douglas also made one like this. For supplies I'd check in one of those places.

and another side. I used this today and noticed it really gets pet hair off furniture better than any other hand-held I've ever tried.

Well...

You can buy those hand vacs brand new for about $90 but the bags is like the Heritage Legend style if I recall correctly. I myself don't see the use in spending $90+ for a hand vac.

There is one that Sears provides, a Craftsman, that is the same as this one. I think the Craftsman bag also works on the Kirby and vice-versa.

This Vac is made in the USA though.

its the same.....

several people seem to be selling this exact same vac. And it might be even cheaper to get the belts and stuff from Sears.

There was also a version of this called the Kenmore Quick-Kleen.

I have recently bought a Kirby Vacuette from Goodwill and I tore it apart because it didn't run and the belt was missing. I found that the wire from the switch had came loose. I fixed that and it ran. I then took it to a local vacuum store in the area and he said that the belt for it was discontinued but found out that the belt from a Dirt Devil handvac fit it (Dirt Devil Style 2 Belt). The light on the from didn't work ether and he said that it is the bulb. He matched up the bulb to a 194 automotive bulb. It looks and runs like a charm now. I hope this helps others.
