Hello. First time post. Been doing a lot of reading here, finding all sorts of information about this metal vac. I ordered Royal belts through Amazon and was sent Kirby belts. According to the info in the link posted, some are saying Kirby belts are fine for the 10 amp motor while others say no. I'm trying to decide if I should keep these belts or not and look elsewhere. The Royal seems to be running fine with the Kirby belt so far. I know the Royal and Kirby are knurled and was easy enough to install by hand. The Royal part# 1672260001 and Kirby #301291.

best thing to do is compare sizes of an OG Royal belt and a kirby belt, the 519 I have has an old school Kirby belt, its a little more stretchy and softer then the modern belts I noticed, more elastic is my guess

Will work. Your going to get many people saying you shouldn't unless it's an older kirby belt.
Kirby, royal uprights, eureka power nozzle and rainbow 2 speed power nozzle gold through black.
I have original belts for each of tge above vacuums. The belts are the same size.
If you have a royal below 5 all use the older kitby belts.
Install the belt and enjoy your vacuum.

Thanks, Lesinutah.

When I found this Royal it didn't have the original belt to start with sadly. In fact, had to search around here to find fitting bags and bulbs too.

The Royal Style 8 belt and Kirby 301291 are both knurled belts and EXACTLY IDENTICAL in size. You can use both interchangeably on a Kirby or Royal vacuum, as long as the Kirby has a ball bearing brushroll, not the sleeve bearing silver ones used before the Generation 3 came out in 1991. If you have a older Kirby and have replaced the brushroll, you should be fine, just remove the plastic endcap to check if you have the ball bearings. On a Royal, make sure it was a model made after 1990. According to Ben Edge, KirbyClassicIII here, the Royal Style 8 and Kirby 301291 knurled belts put too much stress on the brushroll and the motor bearings on a Royal made before 1990. Both Royal and Kirby make genuine belts with softer rubber for the older models, if Ben Edge reads this he can give part numbers for both.

As Lesinutah said above, the Eureka PT and AR belts are also identical in size and can be used on a Royal or Kirby too, and both the Royal Style 8 and Kirby 301291 can be used on a Eureka powerhead, DustCare PB11 powerheads that take flat belts, and Royal Lexon and Dirt Devil Power Pak powerheads, as can the Eureka belts. In fact, these powerheads were designed off the Eureka powerheads in the first place. However, a word of caution about Lesinutah's advice about using any of these belts on a Rainbow powerhead made after the D2 - DO NOT USE A NEW BELT ON THEM! The OEM Rainbow belt is the same width but slightly longer, so you will put stress on the brushroll bearings and cause them to wear prematurely. All 4 of these belts can ONLY be used new on a Rainbow D2 powerhead, as that powerhead was made for them by Eureka and is another version of the Eureka RotoMatic powerhead which many companies in the old days used. If however, you also have a Eureka, Dustcare PB11 or Royal powerhead that uses the Royal Style 8 or Kirby 301291 knurled belts, save the old belt when you change it for a new one and use it in the Rainbow powerhead - it will be stretched enough to be the correct length and width to use on a Rainbow powerhead without stressing the brushroll bearings. Also, if you like, look up generic Kirby powerhead belts on Ebay, AliExpress and Amazon - I have used the generic knurled Kirby belts in the past with good results.

Your wrong on rainbow belt. The e2 gold silver and black first edition are the exact same size. I've literally had 15 rainbows and the belts are the exact same. The e2 black later model belt is like 3 inches wide. You can heed caution if you wish but brand new e series belts are identical to kirby.
Kirby and royal belts have to rotate to fit on the fan. The rainbow and the eureka are pulley to pulley with no rotating of the belt bearings won't have nearly that much tension.
Like I said you'll get people saying otherwise but the belts are the same.

The eureka power nozzle, the royal metal upright vacuum, kirby upright vacuum, rainbow 2 speed power nozzle. I'm not saying royal power nozzles or pre 2 speed rainbow nozzles. I'm saying kirby upright, royal metal upright, rainbow e2 power nozzle and eureka power nozzle.

"I ordered Royal belts through Amazon and was sent Kirby belts"

This is because Amazon sent you the wrong thing. They do this constantly. Contact them, say you received the wrong item, they will send you the right one. Sometimes it will take several attempts before you get the right one.

People will also order one thing that's more expensive, replace it with old cheap junk they have, send it back for a refund, then whoever else orders it gets their old junk. Amazon doesn't inspect returns so it's easy for scammers to get free money and buyers to get hosed.

If your brush roll has ball bearings (which most 1990+ do), then you are fine with a Kirby belt :)

Rob,

Those older softer belts were:
159056 - Kirby (models 505 to Tradition 3CB with sleeve-bearing brush roll)
301289 - Kirby (models Heritage to Legend II with sleeve-bearing brush roll)
1043260001 - Royal (4.5 amp and lower with sleeve-bearing brush roll)
1044260001 - Royal (5.4 to 7.0 amp with sleeve-bearing brush roll)

The belt I see he's using in his 2075 is correct (knurled).

~Ben
