I acquired a Heritage with a dump bag about five years ago to replace one a former girlfriend had borrowed from me and then left behind when she moved out of her apartment. Don't get me started about that.
The first thing I did was ditch the dump bag. I hate those things. I had a complete Heritage II filter bag assembly on hand, so I initially put that on to make it functionally complete, but the gray bag with the gray plastics was just too, well, gray. A kind member here supplied me with a brand new, proper Orange 1HD bag, which I paired with the Heritage II mini emptor and fill tube. I later acquired a complete Heritage '84 that had a filthy outer bag, so I took it off the emptor and fill tube to wash it. I never could get the bag back on its original emptor, so I finally gave up and used another Heritage II emptor and fill tube I had on hand. I keep thinking I'll go back and try to re-install the original setup, but I haven't found sufficient motivation to do so as of yet. But back to the original question. With so many zippered outer bags available, why go to all the extra trouble of modifying a dump bag? The Heritage II mini emptor and fill tube are super easy to install, just slip it through from inside the bag, and it will allow you to use Kirby HEPA bags, if you so desire. I did the same thing to get rid of the dump bag on my Classic III. It now sports a Legend II bag with the Classic III topper. |
