Ahh, my first post in probably 10 years! Lots has happened since I last graced VacuumLand!
To break the fast, I thought I would show you the latest vac in my collection, it is this lovely, classic, Numatic Henry, from the 1990s. This model I got off eBay for £69, it was in pretty good condition already but I did work my magic on it, which, incidentally, I recorded the whole process in the form of a 2hr+ video! Which you can find bellow, if you’re interested. This Henry cleaned up extremely well and was one of the last models to come out of the original home for Henry, Numatic’s first proper factory in Beaminster, Dorset. Numatic moved to Chard, Somerset, in 1994, where Henry’s are still made today. So a brief History about Henry, if you were not aware, he was introduced in 1981 under the model NV 200, this was a red base with a black top, with “Numatic” printed on it. The smiley face was included but provided separately as a sticker pack, which the user could choose to apply themselves. In 1983 Henry was born, the red base and black top with Henry printed on it in bold, this carried the model HVC 200 (Henry Vacuum Cleaner). Henry remained the same until 1987, when a trouble free and spring free cord rewind was added and at this point, Henry’s font was changed from Mello Super, to Shapiro Base Plus. A cream and brown version of Henry was also added around this time. This new version was known as HVR 200 (Henry Vacuum Rewind) the model Henry still uses today. 1991 Numatic began printing Henry’s face on to bucket, at the factory, it was user applied up until this point, furthermore, 3 additional colours of Henry became available, around this time - blue, yellow, green and of course, red! Cream and brown was dropped. There have been all kinds of changes over the years, to Henry, too many to go into! However, the most disappointing change they made, for me at least, was the dropping of the 240v 100w PTO socket, in 1999, which was standard on all Henry’s, up until then. Anyway, that’s enough waffle, here he is. |
