I found this today at the thrift and I can't find the model plate on it, where's it hidden. LOL
I think it's a 510
Anyways.. will need some polishing for sure but it runs not too bad and the bag is fairly intact but needs a good but gentle washing

Thats a great find Pete! It's not very often you find Kirby's of that age with the original bag.

Nice find, that bag looks to be in good shape!

Could be also be Kirby 512, found this one years ago at a yard sale for something like $10.00.......

This could be a 509, 510, 511 or 512. The serial number plate is on the bottom side of the fan casing.

Nice find, and the bag is really rare. Whatever you do to it, I'd treat it very very carefully. I'm not even sure that, were it me, I'd even risk removing it from the sani-emptor. Sometimes when doing so with old bags, the spring inside is rusty and snaps apart when you pull on it, and/or the fabric of the bag could be brittle and the bottom will tear.

"it is a 510 but a Made in Canada..."

Even scarcer then!! Could you get a good clear photo of the serial number plate?

THAT is AMAZING!! The serial number plate is completely different from the contemporaneous American models! When I get home I'll post a similar shot of my 510 so you can compare...

Thanks!!

It will look beautiful once it's cleaned up and polished. Wish I could find a bag like that for my 512. Was a pleasure meeting & visiting with you at the Convention.

Here's a photo of the American-style Kirby serial number plate. It's on the bottom of the fan casing as opposed to the front of the fan casing as on the Canadian models. And it's been on that location ever since the first machine bearing the "Kirby" name was manufactured. I don't know if it is still the case or not, but on the newest Kirby I have, the Legend II, that's where it is. Earlier than the Kirby, the Vacuette and Scott & Fetzer have similarly styled and shaped serial number plates but they are on the top of the fan casing.
