I think this is a caddy vac. I didn't see any other name on it so I will call it a caddy vac for now. I found this at a Garage/Estate sale for $3. The removable tool rack is interesting. I repacked the roller bearings with some Super Lube from Harbor Freight. It was kind of loud even after the bearings got repacked. I didn't know if this is worth selling because I think I can get a pretty penny for this since I stripped it down and washed everything (the motor got a brief wipe down). Though I am thinking about keeping this. I doubt they're rare, it looks like it is a 2002-2003? Let me know what you guys think.

Yep

That's a Caddy Vac alright. Check the fan and make sure there's no chipped blades. That unit should have the 20 blade fan which didn't break as much as the 7 blade ones. Otherwise, your motor bearings are dry.

I like these machines, about as powerful as a Kirby but I'd totally take these over a Kirby in my humble opinion. Personally, I'd hang on to it for your collection. It's nice having a piece of Hoover that's long been history. And if you ever did decided to sell it in the future, it could double the value versus selling it now.

For the manufacture date look at the serial number and first 4 digits will be the date. MMYY. I want to say those were built until ~2005. That’s a 12amp machine so definitely near the end of the Hoover Elite era. Definitely one of the more unique variants, and one of the few that used the “Z” bag. A, Y, and Z all use the same collar so whichever you have on hand can be used in a pinch.

Caddy Vacs are cool! My grandparents had one so they hold a special place in my heart. It’s no Convertible, but it’s still a fun machine.

are probably dry. the fan is fine I looked it over and I saw nothing wrong. I think I will keep it for now as a souvenir of about the last of the elites, I am actually a big elite guy but I love convertibles.

These are rare, Hang onto it. I seen one on eBay and it got bid up to $150. I had no idea why it was so special and why people regard them so highly. But I guess it's a good vacuum.

Great Caddy Vac

the removable tool (rack/caddy) made it versatile for those who DIDN'T want the "onboard tools" as a constant.

I have 2.  The white one is a "must have" if you collect Hoovers.

well, I guess this is a keeper. I am a big Hoover collector so I will hang on to it.

And John, I thought you only collected Convertibles?

This is such a childhood vac for me, and a really good one for most carpeting. My parents had two, a red one and a purple one. The white ones were around alot though! Sears and National Wholesale Liquidators always had them. Recently I went to a Thrift Store and purchased the rare TurboPower 3700 with Micro Lite filtration cover. Such a cool addition and a great vacuum. One of the last good Hoovers.

By go for it I meant keep it longer. They're gems of Hoovers.

I just sold mine on eBay for $36.00. I thought it would go higher. Because I thought the younger collectors would be all over it. I greased both motor bearings in mine.

Was just sold on eBay a few days ago NEW IN BOX from 2003. Sometimes I dont know how legit some of those sales are cause I was setting max bids and like not even a second before it ended I was outbid LOL. Caddy Vacs are indeed good Hoovers. I had two the maroon, and the deep purple. Now I own the TurboPower with MicroLite. They're worth it for sure!
