Hi!

This may seem like a dumb question, but why does it seem like so many commercial upright vacuums are missing their lower cord hook?

Nick,

Have you watched this video about how to wrap a super-long cord on a commercial vacuum? This might explain why you are seeing those machines without a bottom cord hook.

Cordless doesn't get unwound before there drag racing vacuuming. There not careful winding up cords either.

Both of my Sanitaires—SC686A (red commercial series) and S647 (blue professional series) came to me with broken cord hooks. The bottom hook was broken on the red one and the top hook was broken on the blue one. Fortunately, the hooks are dirt cheap when bought in bulk. Looking on eBay, it was actually cheaper to buy a multi-pack than to buy a single pair of hooks, so needing just one hook for the red machine, I bought a six-pack (three top hooks and three bottom ones), and had the rest already on hand when I acquired the blue machine a couple of years later. Its' hooks were shorter and a darker shade of gray, rather than white, so I went ahead and replaced them both so they'd match. I had them on hand, so why not? It turned out to be a good move because it then let me replace the damaged 30-foot cord with a 40-footer for the same price.

One upright, might be the Miele S7 - not sure - actually has the lower cord hook rotate, with the upper one fixed. I actually prefer that, as you can just always hang the cord securely on the top hook if you are between rooms or if you are in a rush to put away the vacuum.
