I saw this at my friend's thrift store today - the Plaid Tag at NE corner of Ave K (Plano rd) and Park, next to Poor Richards Cafe.
Looks like from the 1990's, model 53283-040. Made in USA, so it has to be old AND well made!

Overall well taken care of - hose is good, all attachments are there.
"Quadraflex" floor unit, the cord rewinder worked but needed some finagling to get the last foot in.

Unit ran great, sounded healthy, is very quiet; everything rather clean for its age, indicator lights all seemed to work, and even the headlight worked.

Someone MUST want this for his or her collection, especially to satisfy the one who wants a computer in their vacuum...

Only 17.99; pics below.
If you want it, go get it soon before the contractors get it to suck up drywall dust...

Still there

as of 2-23-23.

Neat high-tech looking unit with lots of LED indicators.

Very nice looking vaccum. For the price, I'm surprised someone hasn't snagged it yet.

I wish I was closer it’s one of my dream machines I’d snatch it up in a heartbeat

Gmarquez, I know the feeling; things you want are not always in the right place. Had that happen to me a lot.
Too bad you do not have a friend or relative passing through who could snag it for you. Shipping it would be prohibitive, probably 5x the cost of the unit now.

Gmarquez,

Not sure where you are located but I’m in Ripon. This is not the electronic model, but it’s mint and sitting on a shelf if you’re interested let me know. Would love to see it in the hands of someone who really wants it.

Hi Gman, that’s so kind of you I’d love to have it! I’m not far away at all I live in Sacramento so it wouldn’t be any issue for me to drive down and pick it up. My email is gregmarquez717234711@gmail.com if you’d like to email me privately we can set up a time for me to come grab it. Thanks so much!!

to the two G-guys...

I sure hope this works out. Nothing like being able to get your dream machine, well cared for, with the box, and no crazy shipping cost to boot!
It will have made this thread well worth me posting..

Went there yesterday afternoon to drop off a truckload of stuff and still saw this set there. Not many vacuum enthusiasts in this area I guess... I sure hate to come home with it myself, and it is tempting due to the cool lights!

Rob, if I was you, I would pick it up for yourself. The Hoover Dimension, along with the Hoover Celebrity, was the best of Hoover's powerteam canisters. I actually own the same model myself - got it for free off Kijiji from a older couple - and am very impressed with it's performance, especially for a 80's canister. The only thing I did was to buy new spare carbon brushes for the motor, and convert it to use Kenmore Q HEPA Cloth bags.

Even if you don't keep it for yourself, you could easily get $60 to $80 on your local classifieds website. Just a thought.

Still there as of 5-10-23, along with a Hammond Dolphin 9900 organ I dropped off there that day.

Kirbylux, I had been tempted to get it for its coolness factor but I have no place to put it and little time to restore it. Just something else to pack and move in a few years...

Selling anything these days is insanely difficult. I had a bunch of stuff on craigslist and the majority was either donated or trashed. Too many people 'want' it but will not go through with it. Some will finally meet up but 'forget' all their money. Some make it a game of how long they can lead you on. I have experienced this here as well.
Also very few vacuum enthusiasts around my area it seems. I post many local notifications here and tried to sell some nice Kirbys on CL, but no responses or they want me to take 5 bucks or something crazy.
Oh well - I can understand why the curbside is so juicy on bulk trash day here...

Vac was still there yesterday, getting lonely and hidden behind a steamer vac set of some sort.
Surprisingly the organ sold for 200 - great for them!

I would grab that if I was there, that’s one of my machines I have an eye on for especially at that price,

It would be cool to try the Electronic Powermatic power nozzle from my Celebrity QS on that matching gray Electronic Dimension 1000!

That machine appears to be from April 1988 from the serial number.

A new replacement dusting brush in black would be readily available on eBay.

Cole, if you are willing to pay the shipping of this beast I can help you get it. If so, PM me your zip code and I could get you a rough estimate. Just let me know...

Yes I’d like it if it hasn’t sold yet.

I will snag it for you if it is still there..

Murphy strikes again...

"An object not wanted will reside on the store shelf forever. Once said object has a great desire, it will be gone."

And that is what has happened. Sorry Cole...

It is now gone - hope a collector got it.
I searched the whole store twice - no sign of it. I did score myself a vintage 1990 Technics CD changer to match my receiver.

I go in there a couple times per month so if the vac just happened to have been moved and hidden from view, and it reappears, I will grab it.
