The Eureka D-360 (Deluxe) was produced from October 1947 to January 1949 according to the 1958 Shipping Record posted by DadsVacuum on thread 33551. The D-360-A, supposedly featured in this ad, was produced from March to September 1950; marking the end of the D series.

HooverCelebrity's D-360 - from thread 29380 - is posted prior to the June 1950 ad.

So rare! I think we know what the Pretty Maid toy vac was modeled after!

Wow….that is the oldest “fan-down” Eureka upright I have ever seen! Amazing! Thank you for posting that!

It seems to be missing the headlight lens…wonder what that looked like….

wait…I see the headlight lens in the print ad now…pretty severe design if you ask me…😳

Just my opinion on my beloved Eureka uprights: the motor head design was really quite “mean looking” and severe from 1950 to the arrival of the large squarish headlight in 1967 or 1968 - just before the debut of the Vanguard”. The “face” and “headlight eyes” on those earlier uprights were quite harsh and “mean looking”….scared the bejeebers out of me as a kid for a while….

Classic Hood Style

Haha, Brian! So the Eureka Museum will need to be brightly lit!

My research so far indicates that the classic George Walker hood design (models S-246 & D-360) debuted in late 1947, and the Vanguard hood style debuted with the model 266-A Upright (haven't nailed down its launch year) followed by the first Vanguard, Model 270.

The classic hood upright without headlight, model 238, was succeeded by the model 1401 in 1974, and the super model 240, w/headlight, became the model 2040-A in 1969 with the Dial-A-Nap adjuster. I have yet to determine when the models 238 & 240 debuted.
