Wattage

It looks like 675 watts to me. If that's the case it has to be one of the higher-power motors of its time. Congrats on your find!

Nice find! I like the color. $30 is pretty much the bare minimum you can get a vacuum in that same shape on eBay (i know because I just did), so it's not that bad of a deal.

Congrats on obtaining such an iconic vintage vacuum cleaner! According to thread # 7145 www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bi... the Westinghouse model T-6 debuted 70 years ago in 1953. The thread even includes scans of an original magazine article about it.

Btw, the 'T' in the model refers to 'tank', the vacuum cleaner type with a cylindrical body and a vertically-mounted motor. In fact, a couple US manufacturers and most - if not all - other countries referred to them as cylinder cleaners. A canister vacuum's motor, on the other hand, is mounted horizontally. Many, including those in the floor & surface care industry have indeed eliminated the distinction, but it's good for collectors and enthusiasts to be knowledgeable about it.

I know that the previous models were the Deluxe model T-4 and the standard model T-5, so I would take for granted that the T-6 would be a Deluxe type, too.

It's uncertain which Westinghouse model was used in the I LOVE LUCY S2 E17 episode "Sales Resistance" that originally aired on January 26, 1953.

Scott,

Congratulations! In particular that you have the hose end. With that you can attach any kind of hose whether temporary or permanent.

Thanks for posting and enjoy!
