So I see the width differnce btwn the two . Weren’t they developed for the same machine? Would the type C bag ever be used with old Royal uprights ? With older Hoover model 61/63/29? I don’t hav Randy eureka machines….wondering if I need these for my model 63/29 or royals?

The Eureka style F & G bags were designed for most models of Eureka uprights similar to the one pictured on the package. They will work with most metal Royal uprights except for models with the type B Royal bag and are widely used with Royals since type A bags are getting harder to find.
As for the Hoover models you mentioned, the 63 takes the C bag, and was actually the first model the C bag was made for. The 61 and 62 would have used the type W Handisac, and the 29 originally had a cloth shakeout bag, but would use a C bag if you have an aftermarket conversion on it like I have with mine. Hope this helps. Jeff

Jeff, I was wondering about whether the later 29s would have been sold with Handisacs, because the 1950 article I posted stated that the new disposable bag was for an upright, or is that when the 61 debuted? |

Whether or not they were sold with Handisacs had more to do with level than time. The top-of-the-line model 60 had the Handisac and was built from 1940-42, but the mid-range model 26 and economy 305 from the same era both had cloth shake-out bags. The top-of-the-line model 61 had the Handisac and was built from 1946-50, but the 27 (1945+6) and the 28 (1946-50) had cloth shake-out bags. The 62 was built from 1950-53 and had the Handisac, but the 29 built at the same time did not.
I don't think Hoover offered a conversion bag for the lower end models, as the Handisac would have been an incentive to buy the top-of-the-line models, but I do know that aftermarket conversions were eventually offered by companies such as DVC, Dust Care, and Essco. Some of them, like the one on my 29, were a pretty good match. Jeff |
