I just came across this Etsy listing for a very nice early Electrolux (missing the hose unfortunately) and it is unlike other USA Model V machines...was this model sold in another country? The nameplate suggests it is a 110 volt unit, though there are no pictures of the plug.

The only two versions of the USA Model V that I am aware of are both brown leatherette with shorter conical aluminum ends, the intake end being held on with latches. Earlier version with a detachable wide-looped "sled" and the later version with slimmer permanently attached runners.

This unit is a different color, different shaped ends, the intake having no visible latches (could it be screwed on?)...anybody know where this machine falls in the Lux model evolution?

Owen

It's a Model VII. Not a Model V.

Ahhhh.

Thank you, Charles!

The USA Electrolux literature that I have seen does not mention a Model VII.

Also, looking closely at the badge, even though "110" is stamped after "V" in the model area, it does appear that under "Electro Lux" someone scratched "220V".

What a shame it doesn't have the hose, which I am guessing would be the same steel spiral type as the Model Vs had.

The Model VII wasn't sold in the U.S. We went from the Model V to the Model IX.

Owen , here is a photo of an electrolux assembly line somewhere in germany
Model V Model VII Warning ! the model for sale on etsy was a model originally operating on 110 volts but electrically reconditioned to operate on 220 volts (a very common practice in europe) as for the chrome metal hose, it seems to me that electrolux replaced it from 1925 with a new braided fabric hose
which was less cold and lighter than its all-metal predecessor

This page of Electrolux model drawings does not include the model seven, but it gives us a glimpse of some very early models and what their differences are.

The illustration above is incomplete. In addition to the models shown, there were also Models VI, VII, VIII, and IX -- sold in different parts of the world. I believe the Model VII was a German model.
