I signed up for a new Facebook group about The history and memories of Marshall Field’s Department Store in Chicago. I have many years of history and memories from going downtown Chicago at Christmastime with Mom to walking 2 blocks away from my first real job at the First National Bank of Chicago after college to visit Marshall Field’s at lunchtime during the mid seventies when Field’s was still fabulous. Went to Trend House on the ninth floor, but my favorite was visiting the appliance department. They only had the best which included KitchenAid dishwashers, Maytag washing machines and the line of vacuums they carried, Hoover! I found some pictures of the history of appliance sales at Field’s over the years. Here’s a brain teaser for those in the know. This picture is of the appliance department in the forties. Seems Hoover was always a Fields favorite (check out the upper right hand corner (27 or 28?)) but wondering what is the tank in the upper middle. Any help anyone?

BTW, the range on the lower left hand side looks like a Magic Chef. Mom had one.

Great picture!

I have similar ones for Sears of the 50s & Penneys of the 60s.The tank may be a Eureka that was also at Montgomery Wards. The partly hidden Hoover display seems to be the official one for tank and upright.
