I don't recall ever seeing anyone using the gleaner. Most just used the floor brush for everything.
I would imagine it was a holdover from the days of oriental rugs and short pile area rugs from the old days and it ceased being able to function properly once wall to wall carpeting was invented. I can see it working well to fluff the carpeting on those rugs. I never tried using mine either, as I only recently found out what that was for and I was afraid it might damage my carpet, which rightly so seemed to have been the fears many already had during their original time period. |

Oh, that's right, Jimmy. Thanks for the correction. I do recall reading that the on/off gleaner bar switch was added in 1949. |

There is a plastic version of the carry caddy. I was interested, but really don't need it enough to pay that much. Plus, it is tan which probably originally belonged to the later AP models. |
