I was watching the midterms last night on Fox and when the race got called for Chuck Grassley winning reelection, I've heard from the commentator that he has a 50 year old vacuum cleaner. I tried to find out what one he has cause I'm now very curious. Does anybody know what it is? I wouldn't be surprised if it's a Kirby like a Classic 1-CR if I were to guess.

I heard the same thing. I thought what! Then Dana mentioned his tractor or some other piece of farm equipment as well. I can't remember what she said after that.

It would appear that he uses a Hoover Concept Two.

I just did some work at a local village president's home and he's still got a 1970s Sears lawn tractor in active use.

Nice to see elected officials being frugal with their own money, not that it necessarily means they will be frugal with ours... ;)

Where’s the cord??

There won’t be much hoovering done at the Grassley home without that cord.

Both cords are removable in order to switch from vacuum to hand vac (not sure if all of them have 2 cords but mine does), probably left off-shot on the previous level of the building.

Politician or not, these were pretty expensive in their day, I'm sure he intended that vacuum to be the last one he ever bought!

Owen,

I noticed that comment about public funds frugality. HA!

Nice! Definitely not 50 years old but it's still old nonetheless. I like that he gave a name for it, kinda shows that he really loves that vacuum. I think I just added another vacuum to my list of finding someday for my collection;)
