Hard to believe I’ve been using my Hoover model 584 for over a month, continuously. You really can’t beat the power of an old Hoover with a new disposable bag. Thanks to my good friend Eric, I have enough disposable bags to last two lifetimes. Many cases of genuine bags. I change it every time I use it. You would have to pry this machine out of my cold dead hands. I put a 30 foot cord on it, so I can reach a number of rooms without having to unplug. Who needs a headlight? The vinyl outer bag might have been made from Mrs. Hoover‘s old shower curtains, but all the snaps are intact.

It cost $.68 in 1967 to mail a case of bags from the Hoover company to the customer. There were 12 packages with four bags in each pack.

The vinyl is still buttery soft.

This was the model from “Momma’s Family” on the episode where Vint and Naomi get married.

Looks familiar

I guided my older sister to one of these in the late 70s when she was looking for a reliable cleaner for her rugs. Bulletproof. Great vacuum.

Alternate heat source

I like your (I think) wood-burning insert, BTW. We have an insert and a free-standing wood-burner. Saves us huge $ on our gas bill.

Beautiful machine!

I dragged out my 519 the other day after cleaning carpets and I'd forgotten how the airflow just glues it to the carpet pile.
