The D850-A (fight me) is having complications again, with my new cleaning schedule I've found it has an issue with blowing dust, which I've heard is a common problem with older Kirby models. It doesn't seem to be getting it on the floor, but after every cleaning there's a decently thick layer along the side of the shell where the bag is attached.

I have a pretty good idea as to why this is, the thing doesn't have an emtor, and there's about half a centimeter of empty space between the collar and plastic bag gasket which lets the dust escape. I never really noticed the dust-caking until the most recent cleaning (yesterday, because I clean every Wednesday.)

At this point, I might just do what the auctioneer that sold it to the previous owner did and put tape around the gasket. I don't have the money, energy, or sanity to buy any more replacement parts, let alone do anything vacuum-related, this project has thoroughly burnt me out.

Other than the dust blowing, it picks up well.

Again, I don't expect advice, I have a vague idea of how to fix this, it's just a drabble I decided to put down to make up for my lack of updates on really anything.

*For those that haven't caught up on my posts about this unit, it's an amalgamated Kirby from god knows when, and some people were confused on what a D850-A is; it's a stand-in model name since it's not exactly a D80 but not a D50 either, so therefore a "Dual Sanitronic 80 50 Amalgam", or D850-A. I felt the need to clarify.

Update: The unit isn't blowing dust anymore? I haven't done anything different, but for the past 2 cleaning cycles, there's been no dust blown whatsoever.
Odd.

Either found a dead space in your F&G setup or most the dust got out.
I acquired a 505 with a 1962 oem replacement bag. I blew the bag out and tore apart the entire machine and cleaned everything. I went and vacuumed and dust I assume from the bag puffed out.
The seal of the bag isnt perfect on your setup. The fan chamber and vacuum body has dust in it from use. The dust will be there.
I'd suggest putting a heritage emtor and using this for your bag setup. The tests I ran on F&G on ds50-ds80 motor was bogging the vacuum down atleast 12 percent.
The hepa bags on the heritage setup you lose 1 percent give or take.

Rusty,

I would suggest using using the Heritage II Mini Emtor, and put a Tradition 3CB long zipper cloth bag and bag top on it, and also the poly HEPA bags, to get the best results for your machine with a disposable bag system.
