Thanks to a lot more help from my friend Hans Craig in North Carolina, I now have another interesting Electrolux.

As I said in my posting about the tan Model L, I had come across a Facebook Marketplace listing where the buyer was selling the tan L and a late-version Model E that I also wanted because it has some differences from the earlier Model E, and I didn’t have one.

The seller was located in North Carolina and wasn’t interested in shipping the machines to me. I contacted Hans to see if he would be willing to go get them and send them to me. Well, he did just that! The Model E arrived today, a few days after the Model L for some reason.

I’m intrigued by the slight differences between this Model E and all the others I’ve ever seen. It has the same wheels as the later Model S and has the “stabilizing feet” about the front caster that actually came out on the later Model E-Automatic. These two things lead me to believe that this one wax manufactured late in the run of the Model Es.

I’m tickled pink to have it!

Thanks, again, Hans!

My parents had a late model E that was not quite like yours

They bought it with the optional cordwinder in 1956. (I remember seeing the invoice when I was a kid.) It had the stabilizer in front. I added a stabilizer to mine so it would look like my parents'. Neither theirs nor mine had/has the model S rear wheels. Theirs had a cloth-braid hose that they donated to their XXX, and their replacement hose was an AF hose. I noticed that your hose has a slight sheen, so apparently Electrolux shipped some late Es with the AE vinyl-braid hose. Your hose is a dead ringer for the AE hose I have. The color has aged the same way.

Nice addition to your collection!

Joel

That's a nifty Fifties cleaner - glad you were able to add it to your collection through Hans.

I recall your former website and how you provided descriptions of model variations. So were there 3 iterations of the Model E: early (without the stabilizer), mid (w/stabilizer), and late (w/S-style wheels)? Does the one featured in this thread seem to be the rarest?

I find it curious, too . . .

. . . that the rear housing/cover is a different shade of hammertone blue than the main body. And, I don't remember my parents' model E having "spokes" in the wheels like mine does. But, it's been many years since I saw theirs, and I may have never noticed that in their cleaner. Maybe a fourth variation?

About the hose -- the machine didn't come with any attachments. I thought since it seemed to be a late version of the E that a woven vinyl E-A hose would be appropriate.

About the varying color -- it's much less pronounced than it appears in the photos which for some reason exaggerated it.
