Definitely has been used, you can see the scratching in the paint on the bottom where it slides around on the floor, and the crevice tool is scratched.

Nice to find with the box though.

Someone likely used it for a small time, didn't like it, threw it back in the box, stuffed it in a closet.

The floor brush looks to have seen some light use too. Well at least he’s not greedy with his asking price.

It's easy to figure out why someone might have used it only for a short amount of time then put it back. Since it floats on air, people figured out it blew the dust of the carpet into the air fairly fast, especially since Carpet Fresh had been introduced at that time. Also, the rug tool is not easy to use. Must be completely flat on the rug. It's noisy and has a short hose. I can understand why it would be 'less than Steller' to someone who maybe replaced a model G with the Hoover.

I purchased one as my first vacuum for my first apartment in I want to say 76 and it was I believe under $40, a very pretty color! Good power but there were too many shortcomings I did not keep it. One of my biggest issues was the dust that it blew around. Maybe they have the same problem.

I have one as well, except it doesn't say "Celebrity III" on it, it just has the Hoover logo right in the center. And it's more of a copper orange on top. Not sure if it's earlier or later than this one but otherwise it's the same thing.

It is noisy, in fact it seems much louder than my two Celebrity Quiet Series which are pretty quiet. Those have two fans, this one is single fan.
