A forgotten Hoover product is very likely to not have a single video or two of it on Youtube.

That one came from England, due to it being made by Hoover PLC in 2002, years after its split from our Hoover arm following the "Free Flights" disaster.

It’s rebadged from another maker

I’ve seen it in Europe as a Fakir or as a Nilco.

One of its earliest iterations in the U.S. was as a Clarke Combi-Vac.

It's possible it came from England, but I'm pretty sure the pictures were taken in France when I found them online.

Technically these were sold in multiple brands including Sebo. In the US, they were sold under as Powr-Flite, Sandia, Bissell, my personal favorite Oreck, etc.

NOT a Fakir!

kirbylux77's profile picture
It's a rebadged Italian commercial upright. If I recall correctly, made by a company called Ivac.

One way you can tell it's not a Fakir is the bag door. The Fakir's bag door latch is flush, doesn't stick out like it does on a Ivac.

Never seen either one before, fascinating! It looks as the Telios was sold in other countries according to the wattage but the Runabout was sold here in the US according to the amps. Very much reminds me of the orange S1361 canister that I knew Hoover sold here before and it looks very similar to both of those other ones, they're probably made by the same manufacture which I don't know who it is.

Don't think I've ever seen either of those before as well. I knew Home Depot sold a orange Farrington Windtunnel Self-Propelled model before but I don't think there's videos of that one on YouTube. Unless if someone just recently did and I haven't checked yet.

There's that. Those Runabout pics I found online that are essentially rebadged Fold Away, Telios, Windtunnel/Tempo, Spirit, Sprint upright, and Futura machines, they're kind of a rarity. All I know is that they were Kmart exclusives back in the day.

THere usued to be old QVC photos of the hoovers they sold in the 1990s and the turbopower 5200 was one of them. Theres some photos of it on flickr as well. Surprisingly that one is more common than the Widepath LS. My aunt had the version with no dirt finder, the 5100. So did my mother before a screw was sucked up and burnt the belt out.

There was one particular Hoover

adam-aussie-vac's profile picture
That are used to own, it was pretty unique as it didn’t involve any sort of cyclonic technology but it was still Baklis, there were three filters I think, a screen to prevent all the hair in large dust particles clogging the filter a large particulate filter and a small particular filter, so that worked extremely well, both in dust particle filtering and in cleaning the carpets, as back, so that worked extremely well, both in dust particle filtering and in cleaning the carpets, as back before my mum had replaced the carpet in her Bedroom, that Vacuum was literally sucking up loose bits of pile, as you could see the white fibres in the dust collection tank, that machine was awesome

You don't see the Hoover Sprint terribly often either. It looks like the green bagless Runabout upright a few posts up except its in silver. I have a 12v corded version of the Hoover Dubl-Duty Wet/Dry Hand Vac rebranded as the Hoover Road Rat. It has a bag it and it's two attachment slide into. We keep that in my wife's Volkswagen Atlas as we have a one year old and a four year old and accidents happen. I'll try to snap some pictures of the Road Rat tonight.

I don’t have a picture of this vacuum right now and I’ll have to see if my grandma still owns, or if someone has a picture of it, but it was a fairly big machine that was silver with a bright green accent color. It was the first of what I remember of Hoovers bagless vacuums here in the US. If I remember correctly it was just a rebadged Vax Model for the US. It was a pretty good vacuum from what I remember definitely on the heavier side but she loved it and used it till she eventually got a shark a few years ago.

Saved this Hoover from the trash man. Works great, just needed a good cleaning. The attachments were all there and the self propelled works great. I remember these in all the Service Merchandise and Sears ads of the 90s. Anytime I’d go in those stores, these would be on a big display.

Hoover Widepath Bagless

For some reason these have become really elusive. Probably not Hoovers greatest bagless but id assume better than the dirty fan Twin Chambers. I'd certainly like to get one for the nostalgic factor. Especially the one in teal (left). Saw one in Target years ago next to what was the last of the Elites (right) produced.

eureka1998's profile picture
The green translucent version of the Widepath seems to be harder to find many pictures of on the internet compared to the Red and Blue (which I think were sold at Kmart and Sears respectively but I could be wrong), which is weird because the green version was the one they always directly showed on Hoover's old website. Wondering if green was the dealership model. Only this photo and one video on YT are all I know of outside of like the old Amazon photo of it.

I've had a Tempo

Years ago. It was my first Elite style and I ran that thing until the bearings gave out. That machine ignited a love of the platform and I've had so many variations through the years now. I currently have a PowerDrive Supreme, not quite an Elite but same idea. She runs almost as good as new, and I was fortunate enough to get an NOS brush roll for it. Hoover had some excellent stuff in the 90s and 2000s, and even some early TTI stuff that was grossly underrated.

Pictures to follow, don't know if they'll be in order. My PowerDrive, the Tempo I used to have, and the Cyclonic Cleaning System my dad had at one point. He bought it for under $80 from Kroger and it performed admirably for several years before it was given to a friend in need. Some people didn't like the cyclone design, but being an enthusiast I maintained it and the filter consistently and had no issues. It was remarkably quiet too if I remember right 😄

I believe that was a European or British model? I don't remember seeing them here but they definitely turn up so evidently they were introduced to our market at some point. That was a Hoover sold in the US in the early to mid 2000s as one of their cheap end models. They came in bagless and bagged configurations and had several different names such as Preferred, Sprint, Spirit etc. Around that time there was also a bagless in similar price range called the Sprint (a different model completely) with the same bagless set up as the bagless Tempos.

Never knew Hoover made a shop-vac. It must be rare because I never seen one in all this time. With Shop-Vac holding the monopoly on shop-vacs, it could not have been easy to sell them, which is likely why few bought them. I would imagine the quality would be better since they were likely sold for a higher price point.

I have always been a lover of Hoover power head canisters. From the early Celebrity to the later PowerMax/ Futura/ Spectrum/ Windtunnel S bag style units. I really like them.

We also can't forget the awesome headlight of their Decade style hoods as seen in the last photo.

Yes, my grandfather owns one. It's a good machine overall. My only criticisms though is that the dry tank doesn't hold very much and it's pretty loud.

Wasn't the Hoover Shop Vac what Day Day was playing around with while smoking pot in "Next Friday"? Or was that a different one?

A green translucent Hoover Windtunnel Supreme (BEFORE they started labeling their machines as 12 amp) with an electronic bag indicator. This ones new to me. These are definitely among the best Hoover ever made.

There's a Hoover in the back of the first photo that looks to be a Clarke/Nilfisk Advance recolor (as well as a few other uncommon forgotten machines). The second is of my Windtunnel Supreme U5450-900. It has the less common electronic bag check indicator.

The famous Hoover Z. Hated by many. I actually though they were cool machines. The only problem was that they weighed 500 pounds. LOL> It was just a cool looking design.I tried one and when I tried the suction from the hose it didn't feel like the suction was all that good.
