Love the 'Luxes, and I've always loved the center dial Maytags.
My in-laws had a matched set in gold. I believe they had the lighted panels.
I don't have any experience with them, and I'll never own them at this point.
But, I'll continue to go all starry-eyed over the way they look. I can't explain why.
Nice collection!

Great collection of classic 'luxes & 'tags. I used to have a white 'tag identical or similar to that one but had to leave it behind when I moved.

Here's some timeline info on the 'luxes in case you're unaware:

From left to right

+Ambassador III C101G - 1995-98
+Grand Marquise 1521 - 1988-89 (smooth bag door trim) or Legacy 1521 - 1989-90 (textured bag door trim)
+Marquise 1521 - 1987-88
+Super J 1401 - 1975-79
+Model L ('Limited') - 1968-77 in the teal blue color

From the last era of "real Maytag".......

Those machines were phenomenal. My Mom had one bought new in 1983 and I remember it performing very well. The tub rusted through 18 years later and a shady Maytag technician convinced her that it was worth more as trade-in than with a replaced tub. I personally think he just wanted it to fix and resell or keep for the parts, which were already becoming scarce by the early 2000's. He sold her a horrible Roper top loader and she's been downhill with front loaders ever since. I cringe at the thought of buying my next washer.
