I cruised through our local Goodwill today and they had this Caddy Vac sitting in the corner. The Elite style machines aren't my favorite, but the Caddy Vac version seems to be fairly unusual and it was in good shape so I brought it home. Haven't really cleaned it up or looked at it yet, but should be a fast project to turn around.

Ha

I just sold that exact one today to somebody on Offerup for $50.00 and I bought it for $4.99 with the same intentions. It was missing all the attachments but I luckily had the same ones on hand and it also included the hose.

I've been cautious about Elite style units lately just because the fans, motor mounts, and brushrolls are discontinued.

Nice find! One was on eBay earlier in the spring and someone laid down $90 for it. Not sure what people know about it that I don't.

Great specimen.

It's one of those 'quirky' modern ones that you should have ONE of in your collection.

I have a burgundy one.

And, I finally got the white one. That's like a 707 Convertible.... you must have at least one.

Got it cleaned up and ready for use. This was either a low milage unit or very well taken care. It was in excellent shape with only minimal clean up needed. Other than being a bit loud, is actually a pretty nice little vacuum. Lightweight, groomed well, seemed to pick up a good amount out of the carpet. Will be a nice use unit when one just wants something easy and quick to use.

Nice unit. That model was the last CaddyVac made. Original CaddyVac uprights sported the 7.3 amp motor and were rated withe Hoover Cleaning Effectiveness Per Amp Rating system of generally 18.0 - 19.5. This white one was the 12.0 amp unit when Hoover competed with Dirt Devil and Eureka who were touting cleaners with 12 amps Maximum Vacuum Power. It's a shame they stumbled into that. However, often it is easier to follow suit rather than educate! As collectors we know that amps is just a measure of electricity used. It doesn't dictate size of fan, number of fans, bearing and cooling fan configuration nor in general what RPMs the system has been tweaked to run at.

My cousin had the same one. I used it at her second home in Lake of the Ozarks years ago. I remember it being ear-splitting loud. The removable tool caddy looks to be a nice idea. I think all of those 12 amp models with the upgraded fan were extremely noisy.

I like the 'removable tools.  I have one in burgundy and, the famous white one.  I wanted the same kind they use at The Hoover Historical Center.. the white one.  Not the 1st thing I'd save in a fire, but..................

My childhood vac!

I recently got a nice one from the thrift store. As a kid I had the red burgundy one and then the deep purple model. I found the rarer turbopower3700 variant recently with the micro lite cover!!!!
