Just saw this unique dual voltage Hoover Convertible on sale on EBay! The box says 120volts and 240 volts, which means it was designed for families that often move to Europe and then back to the US…military families, diplomats, academics, etc. I would bet this was made in the USA with a US plug, but it must have a voltage switch somewhere to change the voltage using an onboard transformer. I’ve seen dual voltage TV’s and other electronics, but never a vacuum cleaner.

I am not connected to this seller…just thought I’d bring this unique Hoover to everyone’s attention.

I think it might be the one from the vault.

I believe it came from the late Dick Pike.

Interesting! Someone wrote the German word for "vacuum cleaner" on the box, though. "Staubsauger".....wonder if it was once owned by a German family who had moved to the USA.

The switch to move the voltages is underneath at the rear. Many were sold on Military bases, like the one about 20 miles from me. I see them frequently.

I just got here in the uk

I managed to get one of these from EBay here in the uk a few weeks ago, I’m thinking it’s probably quite a rare machine to have here, we had the hoover powerplus dual voltage back in the 80s but had never seen the American version until now
This is mine next to my American hoover air pro which gets used quite a lot and is starting to wear out a bit now
