Riccar ,Simplicity, & Early Panasonic cleaners.

Riccar was originally a Sewing machine company. It became a part of Tacony Corp & started manufacturing vacuum cleaners I forget what year. Simplicity vacs are also made by Tacony. The vacuum repair shop that I worked for decades was a Riccar authorized dealer & warranty service station. I worked on many Riccar machines. I also sold Riccar cleaners at the front end of the shop. Riccar had Panasonic make a nice canister designed by Whirlpool. this was in the 90's . The first Panasonic vacs were made in Japan & were decent . Their motors had a long life & they had idler pulleys that required 2 belts to drive the brushroll indirectly . Later on they bought out the vacuum division of Whirlpool & from then on they used Whirpool tooling ,designs & engineering. Also they were American made . The japanese tooling was scrapped. I don't know much more than this.
