![]() One is never more grateful for a wet/dry vacuu than when their is water were you dont need it. I bough a big 80L shopvac style machine to use around the house for chores and must admit I found it a bit to bulcky and thought I should have bought the smaller one, until our house flooded, then I filled that thing up multiple times |

Same happened to my washer - which was a Kenmore. It was a direct drive motor - and too much water leakage and usage burned it up. The motor is stuck solid in there for one, and even if you did manage to get it out of there, you could take it to anyone and they'd laugh you out of the store and say "i aint touching that".
You have less issues with belt driven machines because if the drum gets overloaded, the belt will snap, and not the motor exploding. Also I've seen the belts are very similar to car fan belts so it shouldn't be hard to find replacements even if no belts are found anymore. Been on the hunt for an old belt drive washer now that my 2007 Maytag front loader is also dying out. |

I have a Kenmore 90 Series top load washer which is a direct drive unit, it never has any problems from when it was bought new. As much as I like belt drive vacuums more than direct drive vacuums, I actually like direct drive washers more than belt drive washers. Direct drive washers are actually pretty reliable, I agree with this user Lorain Furniture and Appliance on YouTube who does washers and dryers for a living. Lots of direct drive drive washers I've seen have held up very well, especially to those that don't get serviced like they should. In fact my Kenmore has never been serviced at all, I mean it is just built like a tank! Not only that but I find that they do the best job cleaning. I've used the best belt drive top load washers before which is Speed Queen, I find that the direct drive washers even my Kenmore washes better. Also, there are still technicians out there like Lorain Furniture who are more than willing to not only service direct drive washers but also rebuild them as well. In fact just recently a user on automaticwasher.org which is the sister site to vacuumland.org, he just had someone rebuild a Kenmore top load direct drive washer for him.
