I've had a lot of trouble finding this part i've tried buying it from two sites both of which found it out of stock when they were compiling the order. Figured I'd check here in case anyone knows where I could get one.

Part number: 1920410000

Do you still have the old spring? I think you would have better luck finding one off of a donor machine or making/modify your own. I would start looking at your local Ace or Home Depot and see if you could modify an off the shelf component.

I have another machine which does have the spring and I thought about that but I'm not familiar with metal working. Cuz I thought if I just took a piece of similarly gauged wire and bent it into that shape wouldn't it be likely to deform over time rather than springing back?

Depends on what gauge of metal you use and how much you strain the metal to apply that shape.

You can buy springs already like this, its a common tool or appliance spring. They are called "butterfly springs" and most commonly used for door closers.

China sales websites have them in assorted sizes but I have not been able to find any sites where you can purchase them as single orders without being a factory buying them in pallets of several tons worth.
