I was going to clean some carpet with my Hoover Convertible model 706 for the first time in a while, and when I put the belt on, I believe I put it on backwards, and when I turned the vacuum on, the motor was running very slow and the brushroll was also going very slow. After I took the base plate off to see what had happened, I noticed that there was play in the motor shaft when there was none before. I believe I have(accidentally) damaged the bottom bearing, but I am not sure. What do you experts out there think?

I'd check your top bushing. I don't think putting the belt on backwards would have anything to do with your issue. |
