Thank you for allowing me the impromptu last second meetup. I had a great time with you all on Saturday and Sunday. I got the opportunity to meet many new faces in addition to re-visiting with some that I haven't seen in a while.
Sorry my camera didn't emerge but I look forward to seeing photos posted from many others. Safe travels home to all, and have a great week ahead. Hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July next week as well! |

I got into PA sat night around midnight and stayed with Sam Addison, when I got to the hotel Sunday morning, I was greeted by a few people who were familiar to me. Sat down, had breakfast and some wonderful conversation before saying goodbye to some of the people leaving. Afterwards we went to Chathams vac shop. Chuck was by far the sweetest person I have ever met, as soon as we walked in he said, “ just about everything is for sale just ask” I walked out with some goodies that I have been wanting for a long time and although I no longer collect I figured I’d add these to what I’m keeping. Some of the people I met were, Kenny Loveland, Chad Cunningham, Phillip Muller, Maverick and his wife Jess , Bill Kirby (who was so kind), Chris Moore, and there were a few more. I don’t remember names that well sadly. Among some of the familiar faces, was Joe Kassock, John Long, Rob Shore, Luke Gebhart. For the short period of time I was there it was calm, cool, collective and it seemed like everyone got along well and had some fun. I might go to the next one but I’m not sure depending on some things that are in the works, but! I am planning on possibly going out to another convention in MO in September depending on the same situation!
Here are some photos of what came home with me from Chucks store. |

Chuck's store was great! I came home with a few good purchases. No vacs but various parts for uprights and canisters in my collection and for friends.
In terms of a room John, I wouldn't know if the hotel had vacancies or not. I was given offers of places to stay by others so didn't need to look into that. Thanks so much Kenny, Chad, Sam and others. I enjoyed meeting many new faces, Liam and his family, Mike Pletcher, Phil Muller, Brett and many more. Sorry I didn't make it to John's on Friday but I'm glad I could make it to Joe's on Saturday. Thanks so much for sharing your collection and tons of delicious pizza. |

Very refreshing to hear your perspective and you hit the nail on the head about passive aggressiveness |

If you don't mind me asking, just exactly HOW was John Long coming off as passive aggressive in his postings on this thread? The way I read them, he was coming across as civil and polite. Nothing at all negative. And btw, last time I checked, just because we share the same hobby does NOT mean we have to befriend everyone....if John did have personal issues with another member here and chose to "alienate" them, as you put it, he is certainly entitled to it.
Furthermore, you are BRAND NEW on this site, and your first post is to criticize a long standing member and one helping run the VCCC? I know John actually, and he is extremely nice to talk to. Maybe you should learn to wait and get to know someone and their character before you pass judgment. I think the one coming across as passive aggressive here is YOU. I have to question your true motives....you say you're from Ohio, yet your email address in your profile ends in .de, indicating your email was set up with a German service provider. Very suspicious indeed! I would be careful who you set up alliances with in this community. With comments like that, you're literally walking into a minefield and begging to make enemies. Rob |

Those are some terrific finds for your collection! That Electrolux Model T in particular....damn is that ever a find! Very mint condition.
If you don't mind me asking, how are you liking the new Riccar 25 upright? It looks nice, but there certainly has been a mixed bag of opinions on it and whether it's worth the money compared to some other makes, like Sebo. Rob |

This is not going to be the place for me to name names. I will not want to go there or give more attention to some (more than 1) who'd crave the attention.
That hotel stuff only concerns a few people. Yes, I, too, have aright to be upset when people say things about me. some not true. Was I 'snarky'? Probably, yes. Am I perfect? No. I know my faults as, I hang out with myself a lot. If you were not at the convention, you do not know the whole story. OR the backstory leading up to my 'snarkiness'. For the record, Rob Shore and I have messaged each other. We have a very clear picture of our future. This forum will not be the place to discuss. And, yes, although others took photos too, I have not gotten the time (for legit reasons) to post mine. Also, I will not be bullied/shamed into posting on a certain timeline. There are several nasty/snarky/mean-spirited comments from a few aimed at me. I'm not crying "poor victim". But, I may not be the pr**k I'm portrayed to be. If anyone would care to speak personally, live, feel free to phone me. The next thread will be back on task. Thanks, everyone. |

I uploaded some pictures and videos captured by myself and other members to the club's website. I've read the comments on here and I feel these should be shared. It was a fun convention. We had about 35 members/guests a few members were only able to attend on Saturday.
It was great to meet you Matthew! See you next year in New Mexico. CLICK HERE TO GO TO kloveland's LINK |

It would be great if the Scranton convention attendees would post a few pictures. In any event, if you wait too long, people lose interest. If the Vccc wants to spark an interest with its members attending future conventions, like next year’s New Mexico convention, pictures of this past weekend‘s event should be posted in a timely manner.
This is the first convention I have missed, in 24 years. |

at my home. They'll arrive. But, the menu was: (3) macaroni salad, cranberry sauce, Italian chicken (not parm), fresh fruit salad (with a home made glaze), chocolate cake (my great aunt's 100 yr old recipe), pepper cookies, water, sodas, and iced tea. Everything was home made. I am hearing everyone enjoyed it. a few asked for recipes. |

a 6 person crew came and documented everything for an upcoming documentary. Thant should be interesting. When they saw Mike Pletcher's 12foot tall Hoover vacuum model, his mouth dropped. "Oh my gosh. I've never seen anything like this before". That, the 2 (different model Os) and the HOOVER Balloon (loaned to me by Tom Anderson), made quite a spectacle. Was fun. I told you there were a few surprises. Some enjoyed the Anthracite Heritage Museum, the Lackawanna Station, The Coney Island Hot Dogs, Steamtown (train and trolley museum). Lots to see, do, eat, enjoy! It was a nice convention. |

several "giant" cleaners over the years. The one we had at the convention started out as a model 26. They changed them over time. They were sent o home shows, international displays, etc. They were housed in a warehouse in Ohio. Whirlpool or Maytag got rid of them. Mike Pletcher brought 2 to Hoover's 100th birthday convention. They have not seen daylight since. I asked to borrow one for our convention. They were never in the "vault".
Thanks, again, Michael. |

event. The Giant Hoover, 2 0s, the Hoover balloon, the garden party ,a trip to a local museum, a trip to a non-Hoover vac shop, dinner at one of the best Italian restaurants. There was no raffle, etc. But, we were all together, we met some nice new folks, had no rain, etc. Thanks, again, to everyone who helped make all of this happen .

in my room. I also put out a few brand new TTI items. Then, there were 'vintage' machines from everywhere.
Not being passive/aggressive... stating fact): It's been said that all of my cleaners are trash finds. Well, that, with numerous other tales, is untrue. That will go in the lie pile. Not entertaining any of that. But, we all must be careful what is said, repeated, written. Because people pay attention. So, there will be lots of coverage in the "Post-Convention' newsletter Time to start getting that ready. |

The bag inflates and the beater bar rotates.
There are no brushes. There's also no dirt in the cloth bag inside the vinyl jacket, even after all those years. So, no. It vacuums nothing. They were made as displays for "Home Shows" and the like. They were used all over the U.S. and, I'm told, abroad. It's over 10 feet high and weighs over 200 lbs. It takes 2 people to pack them, etc. I thought it would be a nice touch t have it here in Scranton. Thanks, again, to Michael for bringing it. It was really great to see it again. |

They made a 26, (the convention one started out as one), then, they made 28 (there's a photo of it next to a real 28. They made models like the Citation, 63.. Then, later, they made the Elite (the Convertible version). There were probably a dozen made over the years. They'd morph them into different models. You can clearly see the wrong handle (bail) on this "Convertible". There are also giant Constellations, too. |
