A few years ago, James Dyson announced that his company has stopped developing corded vacuums. However, they seem to have contradicted themselves, as the Ball Animal 3 corded vacuum line was announced for the US market this month. What do you think? Has anybody managed to get their hands on one?

Its literally the same as the previous version but with a different cleaning head. They took the concept of whats on the v15 and slapped it on a upright unit and called it the animal 3. Thats basically it. Nothing new in terms of performance and accessories. a lot of the accessories can be used from models over 10 years ago.

They brag about 300 hours of motor life. That's horrible for such an expensive vacuum. Even if I only ran it for one hour per week, in six years the motor's toast.

Who knows, maybe they've later decided to continue serving the corded vacuum market. Which I humbly think is better for the company anyways because not alot of consumers and especially us collectors would want to buy cordless over corded for alot of good reasons.

Anyways with that being said, I've never used one yet but this is what I already think. Technically this looks pretty much the same thing as the Ball Animal 2 but with a different head similar to the DC50. Based on experience with the head on the DC50 including all the other cordless models with a similar head especially the V8 that I use at work, they're not deep cleaners. In fact, the bristles wear out so fast like you could not believe it. That's not normal to have on a vacuum cleaner. Overall, I think I'd rather take the Ball Animal 2 or even (I can't believe I'm saying this) the Cinetic Big Ball over the Ball Animal 3.

Speaking of the Cinetic, it looks like on the website they've finally sold that model out because I knew they were discontinued a while back and it seems they've finally cleared out of it's inventory which thank goodness. I think that was one of the worst Dysons that has ever been sold on the market. Also on the website, I'm surprised their Ball Multi Floor Origin is sold for under $300. This is the first that I've seen priced for that low on a brand new Dyson. If I were to buy a brand new Dyson today, I think that's what I'd go for because I think that's a fair deal honestly. I always thought Dysons are so overpriced for what they are. And seriously 400 hours for the head and 300 hours for the motor on a very expensive vacuum? Come on. I've seen other cheaper vacuums before that last much longer than the new Dyson. Not impressive if you ask me. Also I lost it when Dyson claimed on the website that they are Canada's most trusted brand from last year. Well then how come Canada now requires newly constructed homes to put in a central vacuum according to the Canadian health code? Of course that isn't the only time Dyson is completely wrong on. They're one of the hot selling brands yes but that doesn't mean that they're one of if not the best there is. Because I've simply used better before.

This has been for sale in the EU several years named Ball Animal 2 what is confusing.
Ball Animal 3 has big diameter brushroll with twice the bristles compared to the Ball Animal 2. It it doesn't use those problematic anti static bristles. Also no belt line in the middle. One big benefit is the suction slider and large debris gate in front of the nozzle. What it comes to cleaning performance Ball Animal 2 has better agitation, but new 3 version has better carpet grooming, no belt line and more forgiving nozzle for carpets and rugs what were problematic for some with Ball Animal 2. Also much better for hardfloors due to the large debris channels in the front.
So which one actually cleans better?
Hard to say. People in the UK seem to prefer new style. More agitation vs twice the brushing power.
For me personally hard choice.

Here is only video what I found from youtube comparing those:

The UK version also has a much nicer wand/hose setup with that articulating handle. It would make using the tools much more of an enjoyable experience - similar to the DC17 days. That was a big reason I purchased the DC07 and 17 when they came to the US - my parents had a very sheddy dog and we needed the ability to use the hose/tools regularly. When I bought the DC65 I was so put off by the build quality of the ball models. So creaky and no handle for the hose/wand. It just wasn't comfortable. I found a Shark more user friendly than the Dyson.

Fantastic design. .

The U.K. and Europe as already mentioned, has had the new cleaner head for years now. Large diameter brush rolls and a very powerful direct drive motor, it’s just really well designed. The US model does have the anti tangle combs and they seem to be holding up well on my v15 after 10 months (nothing ever gets caught in them unlike the sharks)

Just really good decent vacuums, and lovely to use.

Interestingly, In the video, the animal 3 and v11 outsize were more or less on parity in terms of performance. The new cordless models really are exceptional.
