Hey folks,
I visited a CalFire station in Jamestown, Ca yesterday and came across was looked like a 60s white all-metal wet/dry tank type vacuum on a dolly. Nameplate on the machine didn’t list a manufacturer other than California State department of forestry and fire. Wasn’t able to take a picture of it while I was there. Has anyone ever heard of State manufactured vacuum cleaners or anything similar? The guys at the station use it to suck air out of hoses before folding them up and putting them in the rig. If anyone has info on these machines, I’d love to hear any history on them.

Could be a rebadged name brand model or custom made to order for the FD.

Most states label items so they cannot be taken, I work for the state and I’ve seen this done, many vacs I’ve seen have a bronze tag riveted on them

And what happens if the item with that tag or nameplate

How would they replace that item if it had broke

If the item breaks they try to fix it naturally, if not able to the state tag is removed and the number in the tag is documented and the item is thrown out or sold on the state auction
