Hoover made 4 special colors. They are known as the 'condiments": mustard, mayo, relish, and ketchup. The ketchup one is a full hood which came out in 1975. That model you have there, I believe, is called "Canton red". It is not one of the condiments. They are referred to as "full hood models". I have the specs and that model at home. I believe I have all 4 condiments too. I'll have to take a picture of all 4 . |

There are 2 versions of this cleaner. One is a "rear conversion" with a narrow white bag with a red topper. The other is a front conversion with the wide, white bag, as shown on your machine. The colors are Oyster White and Light red.
This was not the last metal base, but the last Convertible with this style hood. |

That looks like a UL patent number my plastic base convertible has the same number on it. That’s is a u4123. I flipped another metal base over also has 263G.

This phrase refers to the 4 new, full-hooded Convertible uprights of 1975. They were dramatically improved in the following ways. The new high performance motor, new wide top bag, tip toe rug adjustment with pile level eye (essentially, a window in the hood), and a new larger carpet height adjuster lever. Mayo =model number U4059 Color: Maple Sugar Pickles = model number U4057 Color: Lichen Green Mustard = model number U4063 Color: Gold Tone (light) Ketchup = model number U4061 Color: Poppy I hope this helps and clears up any confusion. |

tom im talking specifically about the domestic home models. commercial cleaners while indeed metal based for a while longer, werent available for the general public to buy at retail stores.
and bikerray. the model number is pressed into the casting of the base in the rectangle below that metal plate. this is where convertibles with aluminum castings having thier model number stamped into after the model 714 and 1010's. that UL plate is just the covering to hold the rear axle in place. not a model ID |

Maybe you'll be so kind as to let Owen Perkins bring it to the Vacuum Cleaner Collectors Convention this year. Everyone would LOVE to see it. You do amazing restorations. Everyone comments on the brand-new satin bags you made for my oldest Hoovers. And thanks again for rebristling my 1917 Hoover old style Special's brush roll for me. It's a delight to use exactly as it would have been when new.

I'm well aware of where the model number normally is, but this is just a blank where it should be.
Here are pictures of the blank model number with the serial number and also a front on shot of the fake light lens |
