So what better way to quench your thirst but a nice glass of Pittston hospital ice tea celebrating all things Hoover. So here’s one of many pictures of Tom on “yes that staircase “.

He helped me so much. And, it was great to see him. I'm happy he saw the area where I live. He's so used to flat Ohio, he was amazed at how mountainous it is here. He saw Wilkes-Barre, King's College, where I got my undergrad degrees, the college where I teach, the former locations of vac stores, 'Gnall Jones" and, the late Betty Fritz, and Vac Way, still in operation. We went to Scranton, too. There, we saw "downtown Scranton City, Marywood University, where I went to graduate school, the "Hollywood Section", had lunch at The BuckDiner. He also picked up some chocolates at The Dunmore Candy Kitchen, as did VCCC Co-founder, JohnLucia, a few yrs back. We even saw the Pittston Hospital, and enjoyed the iced tea. I hope you (well, most, enjoyed the humor . I walk the walk, etc.. I don't torment, etc. I have a sense of humor. I can take hurtful, criticism and the like, and make the best of it...sometimes, "over the top". Any, why not? So, thanks, Tom A. You're welcome back here anytime. The door is always open to you. |

style homes. I'm fortunate to have this staircase. It took an entire summer, yrs ago, to completely strip and restore it. Some laugh, scoff, etc. I really couldn't care less about it. I love it. My friends appreciate it. So, nothing else really matters, does it? It's a great backdrop for holiday decor as well as Hoover displays. So. why the He** not, I say. He gave me some neat ideas about where/how to display the Hoover logos. One, as some have seen, is a huge one, made by/at the company. They don't always fit everywhere. He seemed a bit surprised at the size of the house. Luckily, he slept very soundly. I was concerned. The 'other inhabitants' were very well-behaved. A little painting this week, and then...display, display. PLUS, I have a few great display cases from Mr. Dick Pike. They will hold objects d' Hoover...some folks may have never seen before. Pics tonight with the new phone.

reference. Any time a pic, model comes into question, he's always there with correct info, willing to share with all collectors. He was comfortable here. "It's like being home, everything is so familiar". opening boxes, setting up displays, advice, moral support. You just can't beat him.
I'll only display one of every 'multiple model' as, space would be a concern. We were going to display (on the stairs) a 69,70,69,70, etc .. just for fun. I still might line up: 65,66,67,68,69, 70, because they're all here. It would finish with the'last Convertible'. Several multiples will be for sale. I'll keep only 2 of the "Victorian Rose models: one was Terry's, the other fully restored by Chris from New York. This post was last edited 06/11/2022 at 19:33 |

about Tom is that, if /when he says he's going to visit, he does. And, there's proof w/ photos. Another: if/when he says he'll do something, he does. That's a sign of great character.. honesty. A rare find one cherishes in a friendship.... like his and mine... for 14 years now. He was going to come for the convention, being that he left the club on his own. He'd be visiting as a former member.. in good standing. But, because he'll be celebrating his wedding anniversary that week, he's unable to come. So, what did he do? He arranged to still come, but earlier. Promise made, promise kept.
Just like a Convertible Deluxe: gets the job done. |
