I was scrolling through eBay one day and found a Premier model 37. This vacuum isn't in the best shape and will need things like a new cord, a good cleaning and polishing, a belt, etc. I was wondering if this vacuum is worth the price or worth buying at all.

The weight actually has no bearing on the shipping cost. It's the height. USPS has additional fees built into the postage now for oversize/bulky packages. A vacuum cleaner fits that bill. You are being charged for the height.
If the seller knows or is taught how to take the handle apart and collapse the vacuum down to fit in a smaller rectangular box it will halve the shipping. I bought a similar 1920's vac that was already in pieces and it was about $29. | ||
