I was scrolling through eBay one day and found a Premier model 37. This vacuum isn't in the best shape and will need things like a new cord, a good cleaning and polishing, a belt, etc. I was wondering if this vacuum is worth the price or worth buying at all.

I want it, but it is 1 state away and costs $75 to ship to KY. They even say the dirt bag is full, just empty it lol, it’ll bring the shipping way down! The other upright vacuum they sold was $35 to be shipped here, with an empty bag.

Either that, or the bag was emptied and the seller is shipping it in one piece for some reason. If the price of the starting bid were lowered a little, it would sell way faster.

The '37' was kind of unique for Premier (GE) in that the nozzle housing and fan case are all one piece of sand cast metal. It was a lower priced model to the Duplex and the Master Model Duplex as well as the Grand.

The weight actually has no bearing on the shipping cost. It's the height. USPS has additional fees built into the postage now for oversize/bulky packages. A vacuum cleaner fits that bill. You are being charged for the height.

If the seller knows or is taught how to take the handle apart and collapse the vacuum down to fit in a smaller rectangular box it will halve the shipping.

I bought a similar 1920's vac that was already in pieces and it was about $29.
