the advertisements of this period are dated from 1923 to 1925 they indicate that the vacuum cleaner is equipped with a filter that disinfects and deodorizes dust

I have added other photos of 2 old vacuum cleaners of the same style as the previous one currently on sale in flea markets (the voltage is 110 -115 )

Electro-lux model V.

Hi Royalsuper:

I've been watching your posts for several weeks now and love them. While Royal is not one of my favorites, I must admit, I'm interested in all vacuum cleaners of that era. But with this post you struck a nerve, and a very pleasant one. The history of Electrolux is something I've followed all my life. Literally, as it started when I was two years old, and I'm now 71. I happen to have an Electro-lux model V, and they are great machines. I urge you to get it as all the attachments seem to be there. Please keep posting pictures of the great vacuum cleaners of the 1920's as they are awesome.

By the way, the name 'Caligula' refers to the cat in my avatar, and means 'little boots' in Latin.

Alex Taber.

Get that old Electrolux! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! :). There's only 1 other collector I know of in Los Angeles that has a Model V in pristine condition like that. Will easily be the crown jewel in a collection.

I have two of them. One from 1925 has the removable runners (to use machine as a hand vac) and on from 1925 has the permanently attached runners. All the model 5's I've seen have the metal hose. Any model 5 is worth saving.

Hello Romain.....

from Shropshire, England.

Go get it its very nice and that's a very smart late model 11.

I have a 1923 5, 1928 11 and 1928 10 apart from a collection of luxes and other makes from the 1930s-70s. Electrolux is my favourite cylinder cleaner brand (they were regarded by many in Britain as the Rolls Royce of cylinder vacs)

Regards, Walter.

I wish I had this model with a metal hose but it seems that it was replaced by a cloth hose in 1925 , maybe too expensive to produce and too cumbersome to handle ?!

Electro-lux model V.

Hi Royalsuper:

These pictures are wonderful, where did you find them? I've been researching Electrolux for decades, but never came across anything like these. Clearly a factory somewhere in Europe, perhaps the parent factory in Stockholm. As to the last, a testing room with the model 12. As to the showroom in New York, these are new imports, but I can't figure out if these are being tested, or it's a sales office?

The model V (5) was the first exported to America in 1924, and was a huge hit with American housewives, The model XI (11) followed in 1927, and the model XII (12) in 1930. In the summer of 1933, the Electrolux factory opened in the United States, located in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, and it was here that the model XXX (30) followed in 1937.Actually, the last of the model XII's were made in Connecticut as well.

I've done extensive research on the models XXX, XX (20), and LX (60.) If you want some of this information let me know. But you have given me a look into the European side, and posted pictures I doubt any of us have seen before. Thanks for sharing.

Alex Taber.

thank you so much Alex ! indeed the 1st photo was taken from a 1924 sales offensive for Electrolux vacuum cleaners during an exhibition held at Grand Central Palace in New York. assembly line photos were taken at the LUTON factory in the UK
many of these photos can be found on the electrolux site www.electroluxgroup.com/e...

Royalsuper:

Several years ago a member asked about a rug tool for the Electrolux model XXX. When I answered his question it set off a myriad of posts on the various early models, and tons of pictures. I highly recommend that you look at this, I think you'll be pleased with the efforts of numerous members.

To access this, start with 'Forum Archives,' the year, 2013, and thread number 19227, 'Lux model 30/XXX tools,' I think you'll like it.
