There are very few people with the knowledge, skill, and parts to be able to have done such a complete restoration. My friend John Gregory at Gregory's Sweeper Central in Pennsylvania does that kind of highly skilled work. Always love sending Hoovers to him for restoration.
Congratulations on possessing such a wonderful example of Hoover history. |

Please change the light bulb to an LED bulb if it hasn't been already. Your vacuum has the original little dust shield over the bulb and those are rare to find because the heat from a normal incandescent bulb will melt them off over time.
These are one of Hoover's finest vacuums and I love that they have "suspension" to the wheels (or at least mine do). I have two of them that I have as just their main unit that I will eventually get built back up into vacuums again when I find all the parts. One got the top lid destroyed in shipping and the other is custom painted a gorgeous blue color. Definitely give that guy some love from here, someone that can do quality work that fast and with that much focus and dedication on keeping it just as it was and finding solutions to counter the hard to find parts and all "for fun" is a rare cookie. Massive talent for sure. |

My friend Michael Balda is a genius with Kirby restoration. You would swear they were new when he was done.
My friend and vac shop owner John Gregory is a master restoration expert on Hoover vacuums. I know everyone going to the Vacuum Convention in Pennsylvania next month is going to stop in to see him and his fabulous collection. I'm even going, to see John and meet the vacuum collectors. It will be so much fun. I want to see this insane asylum in Pittston everyone keeps talking about. We'll all be at John Gregory's Sweeper Central on East Drinker Street in Dunmore, Pennsylvania the third week of June. He's having a mini-meet. I can't wait to have him restore some of my vintage Hoovers. |

And your friend did an excellent restoration job for you! The 28 is one of my favorite Hoovers and one that I have always thought that every collector should have. Mine has the same bag as yours, and I think for a replacement it's about as close as you can get to the original. Here's mine. The cleaning tools and box didn't come with it when I got it but were added later. Tom Anderson refurbished it for me in 2006. Thanks again Tom!
