The 4800 was the lowest priced model in the new Simplicity line-up back in 1990. The 5000 series had already launched a year earlier. It was a decent replacement for those direct air machines that always broke their fans. But it didn't clean all that well, comparatively. We sold a lot of them because of the price point. If the customer traded in their old vacuum, we upgraded the power cord on the 4800 to a 30 foot cord.
