The greater question would be - how long ago was this?
The Rainbow SRX does light up when on - but this vacuum is only a few years old.

There have been many vacuums over the years with various light indications, but it depends on what mode or tools are being used.
There are many high end vacs that have LEDs always on while the canister unit is plugged into the wall. Certain units also have LEDs on the hose handle to illuminate those controls. If a power nozzle is attached or mini power nozzle, then another LED may come on. Typically, straight suction tools do not produce extra LEDS. Here are some examples: Miele Brilliant Canister w/ power nozzle, circa 2010 - present: LEDs on bottom sides of machine, illuminate on floor. Kenmore Intuition canister, circa 2005: Dirt Sensor on hose handle that was typically always green or red showing dirt passing through, also power level indication. Sebo D4 Premium, circa 2011- present: Power LED--full illuminated around circumference of round power button and the speed of the blink indicated the power level of the machine. Also, Brush roll on/off control on power nozzle indicated Green when on, Amber when off, and I believe red when a jam was detected. Hoover Dimension 1000/ Supremacy series-- mid tier & TOL models, 1980s- mid 90s: LED on canister indicating variable speed power level. LED on hose handle indicating Machine power was on and could be controlled by the hose. Hoover TOL Spectrum, PowerMax/ Windtunnel canisters, circa 1989 - 2008 Power LED on canister indicating suction unit power button was in the ON position, but operator could have full control of machine at hose handle. Electrolux Twin Clean bagless canister-- ***not the Aerus lineup-- LEDs on hose handle to indicate power on, power level. I believe there also one on the mini power nozzle that was blue when brush was on. --- Other Electrolux Oxygen machines did similar Kenmore Progressive & Whispertone TOL canisters- some power nozzles had Dirt Sensors. There was a line of around 5 LEDs in a row that would light up various colors indicating dirt pickup Rainbow E2 Black: Water Basin LED. Also, red error LED on suction unit if a malfunction. Rainbow SRX: Water Basin LED. I believe the hose handle has LEDs too but haven't used one in a while. Simplicity/ Riccar high end canisters Moxie, 1700, 1800, S36 and many more models in 2000s: LED on hose handle to indicate speed control, brush roll on/ off Simplicity/ Riccar mid tier Verve, Pristine canisters: LED on suction unit always on to indicate unit plugged in. More bars lit up to indicate power level. Green LED on hose handle indicated brush roll on. Various Aerus & Electrolux canisters with gas pump hose... Guardian series: LEDs on hose handle to indicate Plugged In, Power level, power head On, bag full Various Electrolux canisters had Electric Plug icons on canister that lit up when plugged in Ritello Water Vacuum-- This is one to see on Google. They have various models over the years with large LED displays on unit showing power and performance. It looks really cool. I'm sure there are many more but this is what I've come up with for now. You can search the Archive in this group to look up various models I've listed and you may very well find Manufacture Brochures that show displays and/ or photos of machines with the setup. Hope this helps and I hope you find what you're looking for. |
