I’ve had my sanitare for about a month now, and I’m loving it. It brought my 3 year old heavy carpet back to life. I did switch out the cord, the 50 foot cord was just too heavy. I bought a 40 , lighter extension cord And switched it out. I use the 50 on my leaf blower now. It is so much easier to push than my Hoover which had power drive. I can also reach farther under my furniture. I love watching the dirt vibrate out of the carpet. The only things I miss are the handle switch and headlight, but getting used to the foot switch. After all the research I did I made the right choice.

Glad you like your Sanitaire. They're great machines. I'm assuming yours is one that just uses a drop cord for plug-n-play cord swaps. That's a nice feature on some of the newer (red Commercial series) machines. It's also cool that you found a secondary use for the old cord.

My Sanitaire S645 (blue Professional series) came to me with a damaged cord and thus required a cord swap. I had to wire it in but that wasn't exactly a terrible job, just a little time consuming. The worst part was putting the strain relief grommet onto the new cord. I went from a two-lead, 30-foot cord to a two-lead 40-foot cord because, why not?
