I recently picked up a Shark Vertex Duo to replace an wearing Bissell cordless and I have to say I'm very impressed by the way the brush roll resists hair and works on hardfloors (though I know that's assisted by the duo roller) so I was wondering how would this type of roller work on other machines?

Like let's pretend Kirby (or any of your favorite vacs for that matter) desgined a brush roller with fins with or instead of the standard bristles on it and the cleaning spikes for the hair... Would it still deep clean while also being useful for hardfloors?

Not very durable. Which is not surprising. See video in link below.

Take a look at the 1966 Westinghouse ConvertoVac.

They already have since about 80 years ago. It's called beater bars. Back in the day agitation and airflow used to be the key things in getting your carpets cleaned.

Did the convert-o-vac have fins of some sort? Although a collector friend of mine has one (it came from you Jimmy from our trip several yrs ago) I never looked at the brush roll that closely.
